Eligibility

Who is eligible to be a member?

Any person who meets the required qualification standards and supports the vision, mission, purposes and objectives of the Association is eligible for membership.

Application for Membership

(1)  To apply to become a member of the association, a person must register via our registration page and accept the Terms and Conditions of membership, which is considered
to be a written application to the committee agreeing that the person—
       (a)  wishes to become a member of the association; and
       (b)  supports the vision, mission, purposes and objectives of the association; and
       (c)  agrees to comply with the VMHPAA Constitution and Rules.
 
(2)  The application:
       (a)  must be accompanied with an Australian National Police (Criminal) History Check (NPC) Certificate which must include information from all State and Territory police records,
in the name of the applicant and received within six calendar weeks of the date recorded on the NPC, or provide an executed Statutory Declaration indicating that have (within the
preceding two years) a current NPC.
       (b)  must be accompanied with a working with Children Check (or State or Territory equivalent) unless a Vocational Mental Health Practitioner stipulates that they will never
deal with a patient under eighteen years of age, the application must be accompanied with a Working With Children Check (WWCC) in the name of the applicant and received
within six calendar weeks of the date recorded on the WWCC.
       (c)  must be signed by the applicant; and
       (d)  may be accompanied by the joining fee.
 
(3)  The application for international membership:
       (a)     must be accompanied with relevant Police (Criminal) History Check (PCHC) for the international jurisdiction in which they practice. The PCHC Certificate must include
a records review of the relevant police agency, in the name of the applicant and received within six Calendar weeks of the date recorded on the PCHC or provide an executed
Statutory Declaration indicating that have (within the preceding two years) a current PCHC.
       (b)     working with Children Check for the international jurisdiction in which the applicant practices unless a Vocational Mental Health Practitioner applicant stipulates that
they will never deal with a patient under eighteen years of age, The Children Check must accompany the application, must be in the name of the applicant and received
within six calendar weeks of the date recorded on the WWCC.
       (d)     must be signed by the applicant; and
       (e)     may be accompanied by the joining fee.
 
NOTES:
1)     The joining fee is the fee (if any) determined by the Association under rule 15(3).


A requirement for a signature of a person may be met by electronic signature. See section 9 of the Electronic Transactions (Victoria) Act 2000.
